This half day workshop presents a fresh approach to voice-hearing.  Founded in lived experience and the work of the Voice Collective project, it includes:

– What does it feel like to hear voices as a young person?
– The impact this can have on a young person’s home, school and social life
– An introduction to the Hearing Voices Network approach to voice-hearing
– Ways to open up conversations about voices, helping young people feel heard
– Simple youth-friendly coping strategies
– Positive stories of recovery and resilience

This workshop is suitable for anyone working with or supporting children or young people in Greater London, including: parents, youth workers, counsellors, CAMHS, EIP, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, OTs, support workers, GPs, substance mis-use workers, YOTs, helpline staff, teachers, mentors & more.

This one-day workshop facilitated by staff with professional and personal experience of working with voices, offers the opportunity to:

– Gain a deeper understanding about the experience of hearing voices
– Consider the implications of different models of understanding voice-hearing on a young person & their family (including psychological, biomedical and spiritual)
– Explore the link between voices, emotions and difficult life experiences
– Enhance your toolkit of strategies to support young people distressed by voices and visions
– Hear positive examples of recovery.

This workshop is aimed at anyone already supporting young people who hear voices including: parents, CAMHS practitioners, EIP workers, nurses, psychologists, support workers, therapists, councellors, psychiatrists, social workers, mentors and more.

This innovative and interactive 3 day course will help you to develop the skills necessary to co-facilitate a Voice Collective peer support group in your organisation.

It combines personal and professional experience to cover the following areas:

– Understanding ‘hearing voices’ and other related experiences
– Making sense of different models of understanding these experiences
– Developing a toolbox of coping strategies to support young people in their recovery
– Setting up, launching and sustaining a Voice Collective peer support group
– Practical skills for group facilitation.

This course is suitable for:

– People who currently work with young people: psychologists, support workers, youth workers, therapists, nurses, OTs etc.
– Young people (16+) with lived experience of voices/visions who would like to use their experiences to help others.
