Our PI and Director Professor Charles Fernyhough writes:
The Hearing the Voice team was terribly saddened by the news of the passing of Professor Tom McLeish.
Tom was a very special friend to our project and one of its earliest and most important champions. As Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at the time that we were seeking initial funding for our project, Tom encouraged, challenged and inspired us in equal measure. It was with his support that we were able to secure initial seedcorn funding from the University to begin to progress our plans, and that close interest in our work never faded.
Tom had a passion for interdisciplinary research, a respect and appreciation for humanities as much as for scientific approaches, and an intellectual energy that could have powered a small city. Beyond Durham’s walls, his contributions to the landscape of interdisciplinary research were immeasurable. We will all miss his infectious, mischievous smile and his clear and fortifying enthusiasm for what we were doing.
Thank you, Tom.
