Durham University and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust Joint Special Interest Group for Psychosis is open to all staff working in either the Trust or University, however will be of particular interest to those staff working in ‘psychosis services’ or who are involved in research within the field. A warm welcome is also extended to any service users who would like to attend. The group meets on a regular basis to discuss a wide range of topics and speakers.
The next meeting, featuring a presentation by Dr Rob Dudley on Visual Hallucinations, will be held on Wednesday September 26th 2012 from 5.30 – 7PM in the Pennington Room, Grey College, Durham University (8 on this map).
Rob Dudley is the Programme Director and Hon. Senior Clinical Lecturer for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University. He also works as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for EIP services in Sunderland, Gateshead and South Tyneside. Rob has numerous publications, book chapters and books on a range of topics including visual hallucinations, ‘Jumping To Conclusions’, paranoia, CBT for medication free clients with psychosis and case conceptualisation. He is a Beck scholar, teacher and clinical supervisor for academic and clinical colleagues, as well as being a member of the scientific committee for the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists.
A common theme of Rob’s research and collaborative work with the clients he meets is in improving the understanding of the processes that lead a person to experience distressing psychotic symptoms, such as voices or visual hallucinations, particularly the development and maintenance of such symptoms.
