Working Knowledge

Interdisciplinary research: intermittently theorised, frequently funded, increasingly valorised.

But how is it actually done?

In order to explore answers to this question, we created Working Knowledge.

Working Knowledge is a collection of Project Shorts: short, accessible and user-friendly resources dedicated to the practical ins and outs of interdisciplinary research. Covering everything from managing a project’s social media presence to conducting experimental design ‘hackathons’, the series is essential reading for anyone thinking of funding or embarking on interdisciplinary research.

Working Knowledge launched at the Wellcome Trust on 19 February 2015. Since then the collection has expanded to include a range of Project Shorts from other contributors and other interdisciplinary projects – including Hubbub at Wellcome Collection and The Life of Breath.

We would welcome the chance to discuss possible contributions with anyone who is interested in proposing ideas for Project Shorts from their own projects.

If you would like to propose an idea for a Project Short, please email us to discuss your contribution.

Series editors: Charles Fernyhough, Angela Woods and Victoria Patton.

The resources in Working Knowledge span three distinct themes: Working Together, People & Roles, and Engaging Others. Each project short can be downloaded freely at the links below.
