We are delighted to welcome Mrs Pauline Harrison, who joins our team as Project Assistant.
Pauline holds a PhD in English Literature from Northumbria University, and has worked in university administration for nearly 25 years.
Pauline writes:
I have recently joined the ‘Hearing the Voice’ team as Project Assistant, working on various admin tasks under the direction of Ami and Rachel (Project Co-ordinators) and I am very much enjoying this role. I have worked in university administration for almost 25 years now and particularly like working on research projects. Recently I worked as Project Secretary on the ‘Effectiveness of Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programmes’ project with Professor Westmarland.
My working life has been interspersed with periods of study in English Literature, first of all at Sunderland University then at Northumbria University where I completed a PhD on melancholy writing in the eighteenth century. My interest in melancholy writing stemmed from my readings of Charlotte Brontë’s life and work. Brontë suffered from severe depression and often expressed this in her writing.
I am so pleased to be now working on such a fascinating project as ‘Hearing the Voice’ in the Department of English Studies!
Pauline will be working on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and can be reached via email or 01913 348 165.
