The International Consortium on Hallucination Research (ICHR) provides a scientific platform for researchers, mental health professionals, and people with a lived experience of hallucinations to collaborate on research and share ideas.

Hearing the Voice and the ICHR steering group are pleased to announce that there will be three travel scholarships available this year to support researchers and people with lived experience of hallucinations to attend the Inaugural North American Conference of the ICHR, to be held on 26-27 September 2016 at the University of Illinois, Chicago, IL, USA.

Hearing the Voice Travel Scholarships

Funded by Hearing the Voice, these travel scholarships are aimed at people with lived experience of hallucinations who would like to attend the Inaugural North American Conference of the ICHR in Chicago in September. There are two scholarships available under the Hearing the Voice scheme:

Academic scholarship
Applicants should be researchers with an interest in hallucinations who have lived experience of voice-hearing or other unusual experiences. The successful candidate should be willing to write a short blog post after the event on their experience of the conference, to be posted on the Hearing the Voice website.

Non-academic scholarship
Applicants should have lived experience of voice-hearing or other unusual experiences. Applications from people who work within the voice-hearing community through peer support, advocacy, training, clinical practice or mental health activism are particularly welcome. The successful candidate should be willing to write a short blog post after the event on their experience of the conference, to be posted on the Hearing the Voice website.

Up to USD $1,000 will be made available to support the travel costs of each successful applicant, which can include transportation (flights should be economy class) and accommodation.

ICHR 2016 Travel Scholarship

The ICHR Steering Group is pleased to announce that they will make a travel scholarship available to support a PhD student to attend the Inaugural North American Conference of the ICHR in Chicago this year.

Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited university or college, which may be located anywhere worldwide. The PhD should be on a topic related to hallucinations, but may be in any discipline. The successful candidate should be willing to write a short blog post after the event on their experience of the conference, to be posted on the ICHR website. Applicants should not be a PhD student of a member of the ICHR Steering Committee.

Up to USD $1,000 will be made available to support the travel costs of the successful applicant, which can include transportation (flights should be economy class) and accommodation. This money will be reimbursed to the successful applicant after the conference, upon production of receipts, and cannot be provided up-front.
