A warm welcome to Ben Alderson-Day, who joins the Hearing the Voice team as our postdoctoral research associate in Psychology.

Ben’s background is in the cognitive psychology of autism and other population groups that experience atypical language development. He recently completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh that focused on verbal problem-solving in autism and deafness.

Ben says: ‘As part of the Hearing the Voice team I am keen to to explore the executive profile of people who experience auditory hallucinations, but do not have a clinical diagnosis. Theoretically, I am interested in what this could tell us about the etiology of voice-hearing and it how it relates to the use of inner speech. Practically, I would like to know more about how people who hear voices manage or accommodate them as part of their everyday lives.’

We warmly welcome Ben to Durham University and look forward to working with him over the next three years.
