Hearing the Voice is delighted to announce that the acclaimed writer, Iain Sinclair, will be heading the launch of Voicewalks this Saturday at St Chad’s College Chapel, 7 pm – 8.30 pm.
A special edition of StepAway Magazine, Voicewalks features ten pieces on the idea of voice-hearing and walking in cities. Contributors were asked to “consider how they experience voices in their minds, how voices help or hinder the navigation of familiar and unfamiliar urban spaces, and what it feels like to ‘see and be seen’ when hearing voices.” The result is a collection of poetry and prose that challenges the stigma associated with hearing voices and celebrates the connections between voice-hearing and creativity.
Iain Sinclair will lead at the launch by reading his short story, ‘Scoring Silence’, a piece that was specially commissioned for this collection. He will then be in conversation with Angela Woods, the co-director of Hearing the Voice. The evening will also feature readings from other contributors to the volume, including Adam Steiner, Martyn Halsall and HtV’s Roz Oates.
